SAN FRANCISCO --
Homicide investigators say they have
arrested the person they believe is
responsible for Wednesday night's fatal
shooting in the Mission District.
Police did not
immediately release the suspect's name.
Sgt. Neville
Gittens said that investigators found two
handguns and three "assault-type" weapons at
the shooting scene on Treat Avenue. Police
were also executing a search warrant at a
nearby home. Other potential suspects were
being interviewed but investigators now
believe a lone shooter might be responsible
for the death of Louis Fowlis, 28, of San
Francisco.
Fowlis was shot
around 11:20 p.m. while driving in the 1300
block of Treat Avenue, according to police.
After he was shot, he lost control of the
vehicle and crashed into two unoccupied
parked cars, police said.
Fowlis was
pronounced dead at the hospital around 2:50
a.m., police said.
The shooting was
one of two in San Francisco last night. An
unidentified man was shot in one of his arms
while walking in the 400 block of Haight
Street around 10:30 p.m.
He was
transported to a local hospital for
treatment, police said.
