Dental Clinic Owner Charged With Stealing Employees' Identities

May 18 (BCN)A Los Gatos woman was arraigned Monday on identity theft charges, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's detectives arrested Chelsa Yee, 50, last Wednesday after an investigation into her alleged activities.

Yee owns Green Dental Group in Santa Clara and allegedly used her employees' personal information to obtain credit cards and personal loans without her employees' knowledge, prosecutors say. She also allegedly sent in a forged notarized letter to get a refund from a dental supply company.

The district attorney's office has charged Yee with three counts of identity theft, two counts of grand theft and one count of forgery, as well as an enhancement charging that she illegally obtained more than $150,000.

If convicted, Yee could face more than eight years in state prison. She is next scheduled to appear in court on May 21. She did not enter a plea at her Monday arraignment.

The district attorney's office advises all residents to check their credit reports at least once a year to make sure their personal information has not been misused.
