Texas Rangers relief pitcher Franklin Francisco faces three weeks in jail after pleading no contest today to misdemeanor assault charges for throwing a chair that injured an Oakland Athletics fan last year.

Francisco's attorney, Richard Minkoff, entered the plea on his behalf at a hearing before Alameda County Superior Court Judge Michael Gaffey.

The incident occurred during a game between the A's and the Rangers at McAfee Coliseum on Sept. 13, as A's fans were heckling Rangers players. The chair that Francisco threw struck 41-year-old Jennie Bueno of Livermore in the face, fracturing her nose./p>

Gaffey sentenced Francisco, 25, to three years on probation and ordered him to serve 20 days in jail, pay restitution to Bueno, perform 500 hours of community service and attend anger management classes for six months./p>

On April 28, Bueno filed a civil lawsuit against Francisco, two other Rangers players, Rangers management and the company that provides security for the A's, seeking unspecified damages.
