Funeral services are set for Wednesday afternoon in San Francisco for a 12-year-old boy mauled to death by two pit bulls.

A rosary was held Tuesday night at Saint Anne of the Sunset Church to remember Nicholas Faibish. He was attacked and killed five days ago while home alone with the family dogs.

His friends and family say they're still wondering why it happened.

Dillon Dong, Nicholas' former classmate: "He wouldn't do anything to anyone. He wouldn't hurt anything. I don't understand why any dogs would attack him."

Maureen Faibish, Nicholas' mother: "Thank you, everybody out there. Just pray for my son Nicky."

The surviving pit bull, Rex, is being held as evidence, while a necropsy has been performed on the female dog, Ella.

Monday, Mayor Gavin Newsom appointed a group to determine how to prevent fatal dog attacks. He asked them to report back within ten days.
