CSI: Crime Scene Investigation executive producer
Jonathan Littman talked to Mediaweek recently about the
current spate of crime shows. "We're a tabloid society,
and people are interested in other people's dirty
laundry," he said.
Two further interviews dealing with Ben Browder's
appearance in "Tinder Box" have appeared online at the
Sci-Fi Wire and TV Guide.
In the latest edition of his Ask Matt column, TV Guide's
Matt Roush was asked his opinion regarding Alexx Woods'
habit of talking to the dead in CSI: Miami. "I think
it's meant to be idiosyncratic and quirky," he said.
"But I agree some of her scenes with the
cadaver-of-the-week appear awfully forced." The original
article can be found at this page.

Students and teachers at Pima County's Crime Scene
Management programme have talked about the impact of CSI
on the forensics community with KOLD TV. "I think CSI is
a wonderful show," said the instructor, Sgt. Michael
O'Connor. "In years past, we were looking for
fingerprints and blood evidence. Now we're looking for
dandruff that's fallen off a suspect at a scene and
collected. So we have to be better at what we do, and
CSI does a lot of that."
On the other side of the coin, the San Francisco Medical
Examiner's Office is facing massive budget cuts and
jurors who expect to see evidence presented in the same
manner as it is on CSI. "Jurors are watching TV, and
they see people doing DNA and other work to determine
how long somebody has been dead and they expect us to do
that," said Chief Medical Examiner
Boyd Stephens. Find out more at the San Francisco
Examiner.
