Hit And Run Kills Man In Millbrae

March 17 (BCN) -- A man killed in a hit-and-run accident early this morning
on El Camino Real in Millbrae has been identified by Millbrae police as
31-year-old local man Philip Michael Batlin.

The impact of the 2 a.m. collision that occurred near Millbrae Avenue threw
Batlin several feet before he landed in the roadway, police report.

Police say that Batlin may have crossed the street without using a
crosswalk.

He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later
succumbed to his injuries.

Sgt. Ron Gleason said that authorities have been able to narrow down the
description of the suspect vehicle to a Jeep Wrangler made between 1997 and
2002, based on paint chips left at the scene. The vehicle may be missing the
driver's side mirror and left side hood catch. It may also have significant
front-end damage, police report.

Gleason also said that police do not have a description of the suspect, and
are hoping that a witness may be able to assist with that.
