Timothy Ory of San Bruno was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges related to the incident that took place at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. On Thursday police located the blue Jeep Wrangler they believe was the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident that killed Millbrae resident Philip Michael Batlin, 31, who was attempting to cross El Camino Real near Millbrae Avenue. The impact of the collision threw Batlin several feet before he landed in the roadway, police report. Batlin was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Millbrae police Sgt. Ron Gleason said that Ory brought his vehicle to Superior Auto Body Shop in San Carlos to have damage to the front end repaired on Thursday. "Evidently (the jeep) was brought into a body shop in San Carlos and the owner had seen the news coverage and called San Carlos police who then notified us," Gleason said. Ory allegedly told the body shop owner the damage was caused after he struck a deer, but evidence found on the jeep suggested otherwise, Gleason said. Police determined the type of vehicle involved in the incident by a detached driver's side view mirror, a left side hood catch and navy paint chips that were left at the scene. Ory will be arraigned on Monday, police report. Anyone with information is urged to call Millbrae police at (650) 259-2300, or anonymously through Millbrae Crime Stoppers at (650) 697-STOP.
