A church in San Francisco is holding a prayer service Tuesday night for a 12-year old boy who was mauled to death by a family pit bull.

The rosary service is scheduled to take place at Saint Anne of the Sunset Catholic Church.

Friday's death of Nicholas Faibish has focused new attention on dangerous dogs and prompted San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to put together a task force to look into the matter.

Mayor Gavin Newsom: "We're going to focus on dangerous dogs and common sense things and considerations, training perhaps."

Police killed one of the family's pit bulls, the other is in the custody of animal care and control.

California law prohibits cities and counties from banning specific breeds, but San Francisco supervisor Bevan Dufty plans on introducing a resolution urging state lawmakers to consider changing that.
